FORMER Kidderminster Harriers goalkeeper Darren Steadman, due to be sentenced at Worcester Crown Court for fraud, is being investigated by two other police forces, it has been revealed.

Steadman, who has admitted dishonestly retaining nearly £1 million belonging to Sir Terence Conran, founder of Habitat, was remanded on bail until November 5.

Prosecutor David Mason told the Worcester court on Monday that Steadman was currently being investigated by the Metropolitan and Derbyshire police forces for other offences.

Mr Mason added: "They are serious allegations which he has admitted. The only consideration is whether he is charged with these offences or whether they are taken into consideration."

Steadman, 34, of Greatfield Road, Kidderminster, was warned last month to expect custody after admitting that the transaction with Sir Terence Conran's account netted him £30,000, although he took no part in arranging it.

He has pleaded guilty to failing to take steps to cancel credits of £459,996 and £519,995 transferred from Sir Terence's account.

He also pleaded guilty to four charges of obtaining money transfers totalling £44,300 by deception and four charges of copying a wage slip and power bills to create false documents.

Also in the dock was Malcolm Bourne, 64, of Severn Mews Cottage, High Street, Stourport. He pleaded guilty at a hearing in April to obtaining a money transfer for £4,850 by deception. Judge Ian Morris ordered that he be sentenced at the same time as Steadman.
