A CHARITABLE couple are putting on their running shoes to raise much-needed cash for the Breast Cancer Campaign.

Jayne and Richard Redfern, from Hope Lane, Clifton upon Teme, will be heading south on Sunday to join thousands of other runners on the Great South Run in Portsmouth.

They have been training for the big event since January, doing seven-mile runs twice a week.

The couple, who both work at Masonic Hall, Rainbow Hill, Worcester, are hoping to raise as much cash as possible for the Breast Cancer Campaign through the event.

Mrs Redfern, aged 39, said she had decided to enter because she wanted to do something for charity before she hit 40.

"I watched the Great North Run and got butterflies but, apart from that, I think I'll be all right," she said.

"We'll be able to stop if it gets tiring but I think the momentum will keep us going."

The couple have already raised more than £500 for the charity through sponsorship. Anyone who wants to sponsor them can send a cheque, made payable to the Breast Cancer Campaign, to 1 Hope Lane, Clifton upon Teme.
