PLANS have been drawn up to install a long mound of earth along a stretch of road in Bordesley to stop travellers moving on to a piece of land owned by Redditch Council.

Residents and ward councillors will be consulted over the proposal for a bund, which will cost several thousand pounds, to be built along Dagnell End Road.

More than 30 caravans were towed on to land at the rear of the Meadow Farm Pub just over two weeks ago.

Environmental health officers received a flood of complaints from residents and took action to get the travellers moved on.

They were there for seven days and left two days before the council was due to go to court to get them evicted.

Environmental health manager Steve Webster said: "It will cost us about £2,000 to clear up the mess left behind, so we're thinking about putting a bund there and it could be quite a long stretch.

"But we will consult residents before we go ahead. The bunds are put in as more of a preventative measure.

"We do not want the travellers using the site again."
