A 12-year-old cycling sensation has notched up so many trophies and medals she has been awarded the prestigious title of National and Midlands Best All Rounder over the season.
Walkwood Middle School pupil Lauren Carbutt, of Crabbs Cross, only took the sport up when she was nine but soon developed a strong talent for it.
As a member of Redditch Road and Path Cycling Club, Lauren has already scooped five national titles, including national hill climb champion and national hard track champion.
Her dad Terry, who is also a keen cyclist, said: "She has worked so hard
and we are all very proud of her. Our family was quite well known for cycling in the late 60s, so she has carried on the tradition."
Lauren came second in a national schools' 10-mile time trial and she has recently smashed the club's schoolgirl 10-mile time trial record, setting a new time of 28 minutes 36 seconds.
Mr Carbutt added: "We have to do a lot of travelling for the national events and it is a hard sport but she really enjoys it. In another two years - won't be able to keep up with her and she will have to find someone else to go training with."
