A DREAM has come true for a football-mad Studley lad who will be leading the likes of David Beckham and Wayne Rooney onto the pitch.

Eight-year-old George Vale, of Saxon Close, jumped at the chance to join the England team as a mascot after he was selected from a prize draw.

The World Cup qualifier match between England and Wales will take place on Saturday at Manchester United's Old Trafford ground.

Before the match starts, George - eagerly watched by his parents in the stadium and by his grandmother and younger brother Billy at home - will lead the players through the tunnel and onto the pitch.

Grandmum Jill Beard said George (pictured), a Birmingham City fan, was thrilled when he heard the news.

"He was absolutely over the moon and is really looking forward to the whole experience," she said.

"George plays football for a Studley team and at school - he's football mad - so this will be a very exciting experience for him."
