A JUNIOR netball team has wasted little time in securing its first piece of silverware.

South Bromsgrove High School's U14s won the district title at Bromsgrove School after just a few weeks together.

Squad members only joined the school at the start of the new term but that did not stop them comfortably beating four other teams to land the trophy on Saturday, September 25.

Victory was assured by beating North Bromsgrove High School 22-7, Droitwich Spa High 16-0, hosts Bromsgrove School 13-6 and Waseley Hills High 20-2.

The team now goes on to represent the district at the county finals on November 6.

And their ability was also highlighted with the selection of Lianne McSkeane, Sophie Tilley, Abbey Wetton, Sarah Tilsley, Emma Forrest and Becky Hewitt for the Worcestershire squad.

Coach Mavis Stoker said: "It was a very good achievement.

"They played to a very high standard and it was a really good team effort."
