WALES goalkeeper Paul Jones, the former Kidderminster Harriers, has vowed to put his axing from the Wolves team to one side as he prepares for Saturday's World Cup showdown with England.

The 38-year-old found himself reduced to the role of substitute when Wolves lost at West Ham on Saturday, having been blamed for a string of errors in previous games.

That was hardly the right preparation for arguably the biggest international of his life.

But Jones remains defiant, and said: "I was disappointed with what happened on Saturday and I have not had a chance to talk to the manager Dave Jones about it yet.

"But I have decided to forget about it and enjoy these two really big games for Wales and take stock of what has happened when I get back to Wolves at the end of next week. I was surprised by what happened, but at least I am 100% fit and rested now for Wales.

"It has made me even more determined to do well for Wales -- although I always go into every game for my country with that in mind. I am a bit long in the tooth to have my confidence knocked when something like this happens."
