DEAR EDITOR - Droitwich Spa civic leaders propose a new town clock tower. What is their record on existing local monuments?
Ugly scrap metal replacement memorial benches outside St Richards House; neglected dead trees line the new market square; Gurneys Lane brine pump is rusting away for want of paint; the nearby historic chimney threatens collapse; a lido bought by public subscription lies derelict; old grass cuttings litter parks and the Victoria Square salt makers statue sits redundant - its fountain broken.
Can the Spa really afford another expensive abandoned eyesore?
Jim Witham, Burrish Street,
Droitwich Spa.
