BROMSGROVE and Redditch Athletes took part in the eight-mile North Worcestershire multi-terrain on Sunday.

Despite the poor weather 160 athletes started the hilly off-road race which was promoted by Bromsgrove and Redditch Athletics Club.

Tom Kenderdine (Kidderminster and Stourport) took the men's race in 54.20 followed by Pat Noonan (Kenilworth) in 56.59.

Stuart Geggie (Halesowen) came third and was first veteran40 in 57.35.

John Currie (Royal Sutton Coldfield) was first V50 and 13th overall in 59.47 with Alan Hodgkiss (Telford) recording 1.17.35 for first V60 and 101st place.

Rachel Felton (Shaftesbury Barnett) finished first lady and 20th overall in an excellent 1.02.24.

Felton was followed by veteran Selina Coldicott (Kenilworth) 32nd in 1.04.45 and Emma Hornby (Kidderminster and Stourport) 37th in 1.06.04.

Team prize was taken by Kenilworth with Noonan, Michael Williams (4th) and Martin Dorril (10th).

Dave Cleverley (V40) 21st in 1.02.33 won the Duggins trophy for first Bromsgrove and Redditch AC male with Jane Anderson (V35) taking the Brian Heatherington cup as first B&R woman in 1.13.10 for 81st.

Other B&R finishers were Steve Bach (V50) 41st, 1.07.03; Gordon Hardy (V50) 47th, 1.07.25; Steve Clews (V40) 60th, 1.09.29; Dave Whipp (V50) 72nd, 1.11.34; Andy Millington (V40) 87th, 1.14.36

Bromsgrove and Redditch AC's Peter Hawcroft said: "This is a difficult event to stage due to the nature of the course and is only possible because of the large number of people who helped out on the day.

"On behalf of the club I would like to thank them all for making the event the success that it was for the 160 athletes taking part."
