Alvechurch 1

Chasetown 1

THE Churchmen had to come from behind to snatch a point at Lye Meadow against high-flying Chasetown.

New keeper Greg Allan from Stratford Town got his debut under his belt but could do nothing as Steve Ball slotted home the visitors' opener after just 10 minutes.

Simon Redhead then got Alvechurch back on level terms on the half-hour mark to give his side a deserved point.

Church boss Peter Frain said: "There's definitely not a lot between the sides in this league.

"The more I watch this league the more I see that the clubs are all a much of a muchness.

"I was a good point but I still think we've got a lot more in the bank - I feel we can play a lot better."

The one thing Frain wasn't so delighted with was the goal conceded.

He said: "I would say about 95 per cent of the goals we have conceded this season were avoidable."

Frain is still adding to his new squad and has drafted in former Studley midfielder Mark Beddowes from Evesham United.

The Church boss was also ready to welcome back Andy Dodd and Andy Sutton to the first team after injury but will be losing influential player Gareth Davies for six weeks.
