ALCESTER Rugby Club enrolled one of the sport's legends for a one-off training session at Kings Coughton.

Former Gloucester prop Andy Deacon joined up with the Alcester players on Tuesday night's training session to put them through their paces and the club could be in line for more in the future.

Deacon, who also played for England A and the Barbarians, spent more than three decades at Zurich Premiership Club Gloucester before calling time on his career in April this year.

Alcester's Andy Flynn definitely feels Deacon's magic worked despite the Kings Coughton men going down to their second successive defeat against Dunlop on Saturday.

Flynn said: "It was a good session and a good turn-out from the guys on the night.

"We've never had an ex-pro come just to train us before apart from those associated with the club."

He added: "He's retired from regular action and is hiring himself out as a mobile coach.

"I believe he's still involved with the coaching side at Gloucester but it was nice to get our forwards doing some different drills and we're be considering getting him in again."
