A PROMISING Vale show jumper who beat off competition from members of the Junior British Team is celebrating success at a prestigious competition, writes Claire Charles.
Annabel Stout from Murcot near Broadway finished fourth in the Prograde Junior Novice class of the Scope Festival.
The Cheltenham Ladies College schoolgirl rode her palomino pony Wow Its Willow during the four-day event at Stafford County Showground.
Annabel, who has been riding Willow for the last 18 months said: "I was really pleased with my performance in the competition. It was nice to be able to beat a couple of the members of the Junior British Team.
"It is a national competition with about 50 different classes, with qualifying rounds before. Some of the British team didn't even get through them because it was quite hard."
The schoolgirl's impressive performance at Stafford is her second major sporting success this year.
A keen polo player, the 14-year-old was part of her school's winning team at the National Girls Schools Arena Tournament in January.
