A COMMUNITY has been left deeply shocked after a man and a woman were found dead outside a house on the outskirts of Broadway.

The couple, believed to be Frederick and Nancy Jobson, were found outside a detached farmhouse at Brooklea Farm at around 11.30am on Tuesday.

Police have described it as a firearms incident.

A forensic investigation is under way, and although police are keeping an open mind, they are not currently looking for anyone else.

The isolated detached house, near the A44 Evesham Road is situated by Severn Trent water works, at Childswickham.

Elvia Smith, who lives near to the farm with her husband Harold said she was extremely upset to hear about the news.

The 79-year-old who has lived there for around 45 years, said the retired couple, moved into Brooklea Farm a few years after her.

"Even if they were strangers it would have upset me, never mind someone you know," she said. "It's frightening, I should like to know who, why and how.

"We knew them to say 'hello' or 'good morning' to. Whenever I saw them they were always together.

"They had just sold the farm and they were moving out at the end of the month."

Mrs Smith said the couple would sometimes come up to her house to collect deliveries such as rubber gloves, if the delivery vehicles were too large for the access road to the farm.

Police have been conducting house to house inquiries in Wickhamford and Childswickham, but have not yet formally identified the couple.

South Worcestershire Police would like to hear from anyone who may have seen anything suspicious while passing along Evesham Road, near Wickhamford between 8.30am and 12.30am on Tuesday.
