ROBERTO the giant rabbit is set to become an international star, with television crews travelling from as far as Japan to film him.

The three-and-a-half feet long Continental Giant has been flooded with so many offers, since he appeared in the Evening News last month, that owner Annette Edwards cannot cope.

And top agent Max Clifford could be drafted in to handle the two-year-old's rising stardom.

"He's had eight or nine offers from all over," said Annette, who runs Bunnyland in London Road, Worcester. "One is a major film deal, although that's under wraps at the moment.

"That's why I've decided to get an agent to handle his television and film career. I've contacted Max Clifford. If he can't take Roberto, I'm sure I'll find someone else."

A television crew from Japan will travel to Worcester next month to film Roberto for a Japanese programme.

"I'm so shocked at how much attention he's been receiving," she added. "I never expected it at all. He loves the cameras, though.

"When he was filmed for the local news, he just loved it."

But stardom isn't the only thing on Roberto's rabbit mind.

His partner, Amy, is pregnant and Mrs Edwards has also been inundated with calls about the couple's babies, who are due to arrive very shortly.

"We're not sure how many she's expecting, but they're already selling for up to £199 each.

"It's all a bit crazy, really, but it looks like he's going to be a big star."

Roberto weighs a whopping two-and-a-half stone - the size of a four-year-old child.

With Amy is almost as big, it is expected that their offspring could be even bigger.

A spokesman for Max Clifford declined to comment on Roberto.
