PEOPLE could levitate, disappear or have their heads chopped off during a magic event in Bromyard.

For one night only, professional magicians John Milner and Tracie Hughes are preparing rare magical illusions for a show in the Conquest Theatre.

The Stourbridge-based magicians have worked all over the world, in theatres, on cruise ships and as corporate entertainment.

Both have made many TV performances on shows like Opportunities Knocks and New Faces.

Both have also shared a love of magic since childhood, with John Milner entering his trade at the age of four.

He said: "I did jobs as a child and got paid for them. Then at 11, I began learning from Ken Brooke. He was very well respected in the magical world and taught Paul Daniels. My dad used to put me on the train to travel to London to see him every week.

"Magic is all I've ever done."

It was John who taught his proteg, Tracie, who said: "Magic has been my living since I was 18. I'm now 37."

The pair rarely now make theatre appearances, finding most of their work through the corporate market, doing tricks at conferences and elite dinner parties.

Tracie said: "I still love performing and the Conquest is a gorgeous little theatre. I'm sure we'll have a lot of fun that night. There will be illusions that don't get seen very much nowadays.

"It's a good family show. There's something for all ages and we're looking for children to come and help and some grown-ups."

It's Magic is showing at 7.30pm on Friday, July 9 and 3pm and 7.30pm on Saturday, July 10.

Tickets are £6 and £5 from 01885 488575.

Note: Master and Commander, the film starring Russell Crowe is showing at the theatre at 8pm tomorrow (Saturday).
