THIS last match of the season saw the most local of local derbies, with the Juniors already assured of runners up it was a case of club pride being at stake.

NEWTOWN SPORTS COLTS U11S 0, NEWTOWN SPORTS JUNIORS U11S 2

Both sides produced a feast of attacking football that thoroughly entertained a large crowd. Juniors started more purposely and tested Merley in the Colts' goal, Wren and Turner going close. The Juniors got their noses in front half way through the half when Carlen swept a ball back across goal and Bannister rifled home with a sweet volley. The lead was doubled ten minutes later when Turner reacted quickest to divert the ball into the net. Colts responded and Josh Fletcher saw his free kick brilliantly turned onto the post by Freeman.

The second half was end to end and Juniors' Turner saw a wonderful effort strike the bar and Merley produced two good saves. Colts too had their moments and Freeman had to make two smart saves of his own as he strove for the clean sheet.

With no further chances the match ended with the Juniors taking the honours and bringing to a close an excellent season that saw just one defeat.
