MY husband and I enjoyed many of the Bands in the Park concerts last year and were very disappointed to read in the Malvern Gazette (May 7) that a third of the planned performances for this year have been cancelled by Malvern Town Council because it could not find enough volunteer marshals.
Apparently up to 8,000 people were attracted to Malvern last year as a direct result of these concerts.
Bearing in mind the importance of these concerts at a time when Malvern is trying to attract more visitors to the town, the council seems to have made relatively little effort to find volunteer marshals.
The council must have seen this coming and I am sure many people would be interested to hear what efforts the council made to get volunteer marshals before deciding to cancel the bands in the park!
