Ex-STONE Bill is getting on a bit now, not that you should hold that against the man.

Even if you didn't know he was entitled to concessionary bus fares, he and his band do sound like old men trying to relive some past glories.

But you can forget Beggars Banquet or Let It Bleed.

He clearly wasn't going to go out on a limb, so a couple of self-penned rhythm and blues tunes and a clutch of 60s covers is the order of Bill's day.

So we get tunes like Taxman by the Beatles or Cry Baby as done by Janis Joplin, mixed with some rather unoriginal boogie-woogie.

It sounds OK, but it is just a document of a few middle-aged men treading musical water with little passion.

Sadly, Bill and his Rhythm Kings are the sort of band you would hire to entertain your inebriated wedding guests - though with the likes of Mark Knophler, Albert Lee or Georgie Fame on board, they wouldn't come cheap.

Forgettable.
