DROITWICH Spa CC First XI produced a clinical performance to record an excellent seven-wicket victory over Eastnor.

Karl Goddard's 4-23 helped Steve Walsh's side dismiss Eastnor for 155 before Australian Matt Leddin steered Spa home.

Winning the toss, Walsh put the Herefordshire side in. Andy Van Vuuren made an immediate breakthrough, having Sandford caught in the gully off the second ball. Van Vuuren continued to bowl an admirable line and length and was soon rewarded, trapping Khalid LBW.

From 45-2, Eastnor's other opener, D Baker, mixed powerful hits with a large slice of luck to take the hosts past 100 in 21 overs.

Adrian Field managed to force Hussain into a false shot, and he was well caught by Leddin, who also took three catches in the innings, for 25.

The game turned when Goddard was introduced into the attack. The left arm bowler's medium pace suited the slow wicket and Goddard produced an accurate spell of bowling. He bowled Baker (62) and importantly removed the dangerous Shahid for 0.

He finished with fantastic figures of 4-23 from 12 overs.

Van Vuuren (4-51) was too good for the lower order, removing the last two batsmen in consecutive deliveries, to leave Eastnor all out for 155.

Leddin and Paul Bryan took Spa's reply to 32 in the 11th over until Bryan was surprisingly judged LBW for 12.

Jerome Connor produced a patient innings of 25 to alleviate any nerves after Bryan's exit.

Leddin adjusted to the slow wicket to unleash some fine strokes on his way to an unbeaten 74. He formed a partnership of 59 with Ian Cottrill (20 not out) for victory.
