G MOSIER of Indiana, USA (You Say, Tuesday, April 13) states that my £200 bet on the Governor of California Arnold Schwarzenegger one day becoming President cannot be successful, because the US Constitution prohibits naturalised citizens from being elected as President.
I was aware of this fact when I placed the bet, but I took a calculated gamble, especially at the excellent odds of 500/1, that there may be a future change in the US Constitution, which could allow foreign-born citizens to run for President.
I still think that there is a strong possibility of this change taking place some day and that my wager is an astute one, especially as the odds against Mr Schwarzenegger ever being sworn in as President are now no more than 50/1 with the bookmakers.
