WORCESTERSHIRE'S Tom Moody will have very little spare time on his hands this season.

As well as carrying out his director of cricket duties at New Road he will also be kept busy with a hectic programme of events for his 2004 testimonial year.

A World Cup winner with Australia in 1987 and 1999, Moody has been with the County since 1991 as a player and in his current role.

During his playing days with Worcestershire he scored 25 first-class centuries. He captained the side from 1995 until 1999 and scored 1,000 runs in a season on four occasions.

In 2001 the County appointed him as director of cricket and New Road chief executive Mark Newton says: "The club has awarded Tom a testimonial which is absolutely overdue and deserved. I'm sure he'll have a very successful year.

"The thing about a testimonial is that it's not quite the same as a benefit year because it's all about quality of events rather than quantity, so Tom won't have as many events as a normal beneficiary but hopefully they'll be lucrative.

"I'd have thought he'd have a very successful year because he's very highly regarded in the county and, of course, he's able to call upon all his ex-international colleagues to attend events throughout the year."

Last year Moody last year agreed to extend his contract with the County until the end of the 2005 season.

His previous deal ran until the end of 2004 and his latest contract extension will see him complete five years as director of cricket.

Moody's programme of functions has already started, but future events will involve a number of dinners, golf days, a Summer and Christmas ball, a Malvern Theatre night and a Twenty20 match against a World Xl.

His Test match dinner in London will be attended by former Worcestershire star Ian Botham.
