A CHARITY relay has raised pots of cash to help the sick in Pershore.

Scott Attwood, aged 31, who lives in Wyre Piddle, organised a 12-hour dawn until dusk gym relay session to raise funds for Pershore Relief in Sickness.

Mr Attwood and 20 friends and family took part in the gruelling session from 8am to 8pm, at the Rivers Health and Fitness complex in Pershore.

The challenge involved each person taking their turn in a relay style format on the running machine, bike or rowing machine.

All the funds raised from the event will be donated to the charity to buy morphine drivers for use by local nursing teams when caring for the terminally ill.

"We managed to cover a distance of 372km in all on the running machine, rower and bike, which we were very pleased with," said Mr Attwood, who organised the event in memory of his mother, who died of cancer.

"We're in the process of collecting the sponsorship money now but we're hoping to have raised around £4,000."
