THE third annual Rubbish? Sort It! campaign kicks off today, with organisers hoping that it will be the most successful yet.
The scheme, organised by the Duckworth Worcestershire Trust and city and county councils - supported by the Evening News, needs the help of schools, community groups, youth groups, parish councils and even Neighbourhood Watch groups.
The aim is to make Worcester a cleaner and safer place to live and work while highlighting problems caused by litter and educating people about the benefits of recycling.
Litter picking
Litter picking events, which are open to all members of the public, will take place at a variety of locations throughout the campaign, which runs until Saturday, May 15.
"Over the last year there has been a lot of negative publicity about Worcester but there have been big improvements," said Mark Driscoll, project manager at the Trust.
Last year, 600 people collected a massive 12 tons of rubbish from 25 litter-picking events.
A special page devoted to the campaign and a list of all the locations where litter picking events will take place can be found in tomorrow's Evening News.
