SHOPPERS and traders have been warned to look out for a chilli powder containing illegal levels of a cancer-causing toxin.
Worcestershire Trading Standards said the distinctively mis-spelt Deggi Mirch Chilly Powder contained excessively high levels of aflatoxins. The 100g cartons have a best-before date of November 2004 and are from batch E37.
Information
"Aflatoxins are a known carcinogen and their presence in food in quantities above a legal limit is a serious issue," said Carol Stevens, public analyst for Worcestershire County Council.
