MID-Worcestershire MP Peter Luff has welcomed the publication of an independent report by the National Union of Teachers that adds further weight to Worcestershire's arguments that its schools are discriminated against by the Government.
The report, by John Atkins, concludes that the balance of funding has swung so far in favour of schools in "challenging" circumstances that those in affluent areas were at risk of "failing to be financially viable".
This is yet more proof of the discrimination against our county and its schools. We have always said that children who need extra help and come from deprived backgrounds in urban situations should be given it, but not at the expense of children who come from non urban/less deprived areas.
A child should have equal access to a teacher, computer, books and other basic education requirements regardless of their background or where they live.
