MALVERN Town's momentous campaign continues tomorrow (Saturday) when Dudley Town visit the Langland Stadium in another must win Express and Star West Midlands League Premier Division game.

Town currently sit five points ahead of Tipton, who have two games in hand, and victory for both teams on Saturday will set up a titanic clash when they meet at the Langland Stadium next Saturday (April 24).

Tomorrow (Saturday) Malvern's Black Country championship rivals are at home to third-placed Shawbury and the Langland Stadium outfit must be hoping that the Shropshire side will pick up something from the game.

However Town general manager Richard Anson isn't interested what others might or might not do and maintains that Malvern are only interested in what they have to achieve.

"Our major focus is on Dudley this weekend," said Anson.

"Throughout this season we have simply taken each game at a time and we are not going to stop that now, we also have a healthy competition for places in the squad which keeps the pressure on the players to perform as, not surprisingly, they all want a slice of the action."

Town were 7-1 victors when they went to Dudley at the back end of last year, but Anson insists that this result has no bearing on this clash.

"When we went to Dudley they made it very difficult for us for an hour or so and we just had a golden spell in the final 25 minutes.

"We certainly don't expect them to roll over this Saturday and in the likes of ex-England, Liverpool and Glasgow Rangers winger Mark Walters, they have a quality player and that influence always rubs off on those around you, so there will be no room for complacency," he said.

Town boss Neil Hunt has no major injury worries and took the precaution of resting virtually the entire first team squad against Bromyard Town in the Smedley Crooke Memorial Trophy semi-final last Wednesday.

His only absentee is Dave Cannon, who remains suspended, as Nathan Jukes and Andy Chalmers return to the squad having both missed the Market Drayton game.

Hunt will therefore select from:

Alden, Moss, Williams, Chalmers, Clayton, Fryer, Hooper, Preedy (D), Baldwin, Morris, Halion, Jukes, Owen, Smith, Preedy (P), Cox, Roberts and Rollins.

Second leg

ON Tuesday night (April 20) Town have another big game when Tividale visit the Langland Stadium in the second leg of the West Midlands League Premier Division Cup semi-final.

The tie sits delicately poised at 1-1 as Malvern bid for their first League Cup final appearance for 16 years. The game kicks off at 7.45pm.
