Malvern Hills Conservators were contemplating the closure of a number of quarries on the hills 100 years ago.
Those under consideration were at the Dingle, above West Malvern, and another one behind West Malvern School.
The Conservators resolved to ask the Ecclesiastical Commissioners to sanction the closure of the two quarries, a move the Gazette said would be "welcomed by all who wish to see the Hills protected from spoilation".
They also asked for traction engines to be banned from Jubilee Drive, for fear they were tearing up the road.
