MALVERN Town extended their lead at the top of the Express and Star West Midlands League Premier Division table to five points, following this comfortable victory at their Willenhall-based hosts on Saturday.

WOLVERHAMPTON UNITED 0, MALVERN TOWN 4

In a game where Town never really got into top gear, Malvern always held the upper hand, although it took a Nathan Jukes penalty in the 39th minute to break the deadlock.

Earlier, Des Cox saw a first minute drive touched past the post by the home goalkeeper and later the same player saw appeals for a penalty turned down, when he appeared to have been up-ended in the box.

But when Cox again bore down on the home goal just six minutes before the break, he was brought down by a home player, an offence that earned a red card.

Jukes confidently tucked away the spot kick and in the final minute of the half, the ever instrumental midfielder set up Nathan Owen who slipped the ball into the net, to put Malvern in a comfortable half time position.

The second period did not differ greatly from the first, but again Jukes was the architect, when his superb through ball enabled Rik Halion to deftly flick the ball home and secure Town's third goal on the hour mark.

With the game effectively over as a contest both Lee Hooper and Des Cox might have extended Town's lead, but it was left to Owen who did just that, when he ran on to another Jukes through ball and planted his shot firmly beyond the home keeper to secure what was a very comfortable three points.
