THE final of the Malvern Table Tennis League's secondary handicap competition will bring together YMCA Magpies, in their first final since 1999, and Crackpots E, from the lower end of division two.

Magpies had a comfortable 36-point victory over Broadheath Belters who found both Mike Harris and Mark Jones hard to break down. The only glimmer of hope Belters had was when Brett Brining took points off Steve Humphrys and when Dave Elliot went all square with the same player.

Colin Dolding was the stumbling block when Poolbrook Juniors went down by 43 points to Crackpots E.

Colin was on top of his game throughout the evening and had the better of all of his opponents. He was well supported by James Palmer who beat Tom James 11-9, 11-5, 13-11, 11-8 and then did well to come back from 2-0 down to finish at 3-11, 5-11, 11-5, 11-4 to Anthony Wiseman.

SCORES: Broadheath Belters (149) 382, YMCA Magpies 418; Crackpots E (54) 405, Poolbrook Juniors 362.

The handicap finals evening is on Tuesday (April 20) at the Civil Service Sports & Social Club. Play starts at 7.30pm and spectators will be most welcome.
