THE stereotypical image of a hospital matron is to be challenged by a speaker at the AGM of Malvern Hills District Older People's Forum.
Mary Horner, the new matron at Malvern Community Hospital will address forum members at Priory Lodge Hall, Avenue Road on Wednesday, April 21.
Mrs Horner, 44, is set to prove she is far from being elderly, sedate and plump, and will talk about her 'hands-on' role and a nurse-led service that she believes is the way ahead.
The other speaker will be Pat Merrick, town councillor, chairman of the Malvern Hospital League of Friends and former district councillor. She will talk about the hospital's history and her hopes for the planned new hospital in Malvern Link.
The meeting is at 10.30am.
