THE only division one game of the Easter weekend saw the destiny of the Soccer Site Malvern League title decided when Bishops Frome visited Morgan Aero 8 and gained the required victory to see them retain the title they won as Green Dragon last season.

The first 20 minutes were very tight with Morgan more than matching their opponents before Wayne Hoskins got on the end of a Matt Beale corner to head home and give Bishops Frome the lead.

Morgan continued to battle on but two goals just before half time put the visitors on top, the first came when a long ball into the Morgan box by Sean Davies was allowed to bounce and Wayne Hoskins pounced to volley the ball home. It became 3-0 right on the stroke of half time when the ball was flicked on to leading scorer Jason Westmacott, who cleverly chipped the home keeper from 20 yards.

Bishops Frome increased their lead straight after half time when after Matt Beale was bought down in full flight inside the box, Jason Westmacott strode up to calmly slot the spot kick home.

Morgan pulled a goal back but the visitors were not to be denied in their quest for a victory and the resultant title and they scored twice more through substitute Lee Harris to wrap up a 6-1 victory. This could be the first leg of a Bishops Frome treble as they are through to the finals of the Herefordshire FA Sunday Cup and the Soccer Site Malvern League Senior Cup.

The two games played in division two finished with identical score lines and did nothing to resolve the destination of the title with both new leaders Bell Inn 98 and second placed Dynamo having comfortable 9-0 victories.

Bell Inn 98 ended Madresfield's title hopes when they entertained them at Bosbury. In what looked like being a tight game, as Madresfield were also in the title hunt, goals from Ashley Jones, Dave Beech, hat-tricks for Pete Brown and second half substitute Tim Febery, along with the highlight of the game, a 20 yard screamer from veteran defender Jim Argent, saw them reach 100 plus goals for the season.

Dynamo Ledbury were expecting a much easier task as they visited bottom-placed Great Malvern and that proved to be the case as they also notched up nine goals courtesy of two from Matt Grey, a Martin Punt hat-trick and four from John Walker.

This now sets up an intriguing game this Sunday when Dynamo Ledbury entertain Bell Inn 98 at New Road, Ledbury in what could be the title decider. But this division has been full of twists and turns this season and a draw could see Cross Keys still in with an outside chance of the title.

Clubs are reminded that the next league meeting is on Monday (April 19) commencing at 7.30pm promptly.
