PERSHORE Tennis Club and the the tennis section of Evesham Rowing Club are two of the clubs giving people the chance to get on court for free!

More than 19 clubs, leisure centres and local authority in Hereford and Worcestershire have chosen at least one day between now and September 26 to open their doors and welcome anyone to play.

More than 58,000 people took advantage of the Play Tennis scheme last year and more than 60,000 newcomers have been attracted to the sport in the five years since the scheme first took place in 1999.

Simon Thomas, LTA county development officer, said: Play Tennis 2004 encourages everybody, regardless of age, ability or background, to visit their local venue and pick up a racket."

For more information and when the sessions are available locally, contact either of the two clubs or log on to www.LTA.org.uk/playtennis
