SATURDAY'S cup tie will be a very interesting one for Worcester supporters. We face Wakefield for the second time in seven days and the coaches are giving a few players a real chance to make a name for themselves.

We've had well documented trouble with niggly injuries lately and this is a good opportunity to rest some players who have been playing with knocks. Tony Windo and Craig Gillies seem to be fixtures in the side at present but the boys coming into replace them will be aiming to secure a spot for next weekend's game against Henley at Sixways.

We have seen before that John Brain and Andy Keast reward good performances and for people like Dan Zaltzman, Chris Hall, David Officer and youngsters such as Martin Freeman it is a real chance. I know that they will be desperate to play well and make sure they give the coaches a real headache for the Henley match. That can only be good for Worcester.

This weekend has come just a little too soon for me. I've been delighted with the progress I have made but I'm still feeling the knee a little and it's just not worth risking the injury. I've done a few fitness sessions this week and have been able to run in a straight line no problem at all. When it comes to zigzagging, however, I can still feel a bit of pain in the bone and I'm now targeting a bench place against Henley. The huge positive for me is that the Achilles feels fine. The knee injury has been painful but certainly not as irritating as the Achilles which dragged on and on.

It is a case now of building my match fitness up slowly and I hope to be going full pelt by the middle of the month. I lost two weeks initially because of the injury and not being able to do anything but, since then, I've been working hard in the pool and in the gym.

When we face an opposition, we obviously do a fair amount of homework on them and work on a game plan to beat them. I would say Wakefield are fairly fresh in our minds after playing them on Saturday!

Winning 46-15 was a good result and I think everyone was pleased with the first half, especially the opening 20 minutes. We were 36-10 ahead at the break but we were a bit scrappy in the second period and lost the flow.

We've looked at the video and it just comes down to small errors at vital moments. There is no big problem. Supporters may wonder just when we are going to put a consistent 80 minutes together. I would say to them -- don't panic! We certainly looked the part in that opening half and with a little tinkering and a bit more concentration, things will come together.

We must remember that we have won all of our games so far this season so we must be doing something right!
