EVERY supporter who made the trip to Edge Hall Road - take a bow! I thought you were all absolutely superb on Saturday and it made for a great occasion.

Of course, we've all been there before at a big away game and we've come back disappointed.

This time, however, the players didn't let you down. I hope we made one another proud to be involved in Worcester because it was an awesome day.

The 15-7 victory wasn't the prettiest win you're ever likely to see but I think it proved a few points. Firstly we proved that we could go away from home, soak up pressure, defend well and take the points on offer.

Anyone who was at Orrell will testify that we tried to play rugby on every occasion, we didn't just kick the ball away. However, I think we stuck to a game-plan well and reaped the rewards. What it meant is that we took four points for the victory and moved seven points clear in the promotion race. That was a giant step forward and we were right to enjoy the success over the weekend.

The fact is, though, we haven't won anything yet. As it stands now, we've got 11 games to go -- almost half the season -- and there is no trophy in the cabinet. That is Worcester's reality today.

We can kid ourselves of course and think that it's all over now but if we don't have the right attitude then we won't win another game this season. We know we've got the players and the quality in the squad. We know we've got great coaches and great facilities but it doesn't mean a thing if you aren't thinking straight.

Our game with Bedford Blues on Saturday is a classic example of a game we are expected to win. However, if we think we've just got to turn up and it will happen, we will get beaten. When we played them at Goldington Road back in September, they had a number of chances to win the game and we played pretty poorly. Ultimately, we got away with a five-point success but they will come to Worcester looking for any sign of complacency.

I don't think for a minute that there are any players in our squad stupid enough to think differently now we've beaten Orrell.

I honestly feel that the professionalism within the squad is first class and the target for all of us now is to finish up this season having won 26 from 26 games. That's the great thing with this set of players, they all want to keep on improving their game and developing this season. We certainly don't see it is 'job done' now.

The big talking point around the city this week has been around my request to have the captaincy passed to Tony Windo. It's not a big deal but my rationale was that I simply wanted to concentrate on my game and my fitness. I've never had a problem with injury in my career so this season was a new and unwanted experience.

After the recent game with Coventry, I felt that I should concentrate on getting myself right before I thought about the captaincy and that was the only reason.

I love captaining the club but I'm no good to anyone if I'm not performing how I want to be. Seeing as Tony had been doing it in my absence anyway, it didn't seem a big deal although I understand that the supporters wanted to know what was going on when I didn't lead the side out.

It was a real party atmosphere in Wigan. Now the trick is to keep it going at Sixways and rekindle that carnival mood on Saturday. The Orrell match proved something beyond any doubt. We're all in this together -- players and supporters. We win together, we lose together but the main thing is that we are all there on one side.

For me, that was the best result of all on Saturday night and it showed that we are building something really special here at Worcester.
