THE very strong wind running the length of the pitch, making the ball difficult to control, threatened to ruin this West Midland Division One (South) game, and the first half ended scoreless.

BLEDBURY TOWN RESERVES 2, MALVERN TOWN RESERVES 3

The scoring started when Ed Lyons crossed to Nathan Owen whose shot was half saved by goalie Mark Davies. The ball fell to Rob Perrins whose shot was blocked and Barry Hughes knocked in the rebound.

Five minutes later Jamie Thomas floated in a free kick which ricocheted between a number of players and Joe Leighton was quickest to respond and toe-poked the ball home.

Adam Simpson played a lovely ball in to the path of Perrins who took the ball close to the bye line and unleashed a great shot, which beat Davies but not the cross bar.

Lyons intercepted a ball on the half way and ran straight at the Ledbury defence drawing two defenders, and back heeling the ball to Hughes who, in turn, squared the ball across the box to Perrins who scored Town's third goal.

Young Jack Shipman was adjudged to have pushed in the box and Ledbury's Chris Grubb made no mistake with the penalty.

Ashley Jones made the score look respectable when he scored Ledbury's second goal right on 90 minutes.
