ALEC Bond's letter (You Say, Tuesday, March 24) about damage to Sandy Lane is factually inaccurate.
He speaks of "off-roaders" whereas Sandy Lane is a public road free for the passage of all, so this is "on-road" driving.
Anyone who uses this lane in a road-legal vehicle is within their rights.
The "damage" he attributes to motorcycles is actually the result of many decades of water damage. I would have thought a geography student would know the difference!
This lane is in such a lamentable state because of non-existent maintenance by Worcester Highways Authority.
I do agree that reconstruction work is needed and there is no shortage of conservation volunteers willing to do this - however, Worcestershire County Council has refused all such help so the finger of blame must point at the council.
