MALVERN Chess Club played away to Worcester City in the County League Division One and had a draw 3-3.
Malvern had white on the odd boards. Individual results are as follows, Malvern names first.
1) B Turner - J Keene, 2) G Herbert - S Mellor, 3) I Clarke - R Collett, 4) J Knee 0 - 1 T Spittle, 5) M Ginger - R Yates, 6) T Shaw 1 - 0 R Williams.
Four of the games were agreed as draws and Malvern lost on board four but on board six, white emerged better from a Queen's Gambit Semi-Slav but then incorrectly sacrificed a bishop for two pawns. Tony Shaw then managed to convert his advantage into a win.
