WORCESTER light-middleweight boxer Leroy Williamson lost on points when he travelled to Edinburgh for a four-round contest against Fauldhouse youngster Colin McNeil.
Williamson gave the local favourite a rough ride at times but finally fell to a 40-36 defeat at the Meadowbank Sports Cntre.
Five-time Scottish amateur champion McNeil, who had also claimed a bronze medal at the 1998 Commonwealth Games, was having just his second outing as a professional.
But the contest was barely 30 seconds old before he picked up his first pro war wound. A clash of heads left the Scot cut high on the hairline.
Williamson didn't come through unscathed, the clash opened up a nasty cut to his left eyebrow which raised question-marks as to whether he would make it through to the final bell.
Southpaw McNeil maintained the upper hand for long periods, catching Leroy with chopping lefts, but Williamson stood his ground and replied with hooks to the body when the opportunity arose.
