WORCESTER Rugby Club are re-fusing to let their focus drop as they face the biggest week in their history.

The National One leaders, who will clinch the league title if they beat Bristol Shoguns at Sixways on Saturday, will keep everything as normal as possible in the match lead-up.

"It's a normal training week for us," said Worcester's director of rugby John Brain. "We have a game in front of us and it's one that we will prepare for as we do any other game.

"Obviously there will be a lot of extra media attention but I think any extra media coverage involving the players will be looked on with a great amount of scepticism.

"Of course we know the significance of the match, but we are focused on getting our preparation right. If we do that then nerves won't come into it."

Brain, who signed his new two-year deal along with coach Andy Keast last week, has led Worcester to an incredible 23 league wins out of 23.

The former Gloucester lock just wants to see the run continue on Saturday. "We've always targeted 26 victories," he added. "That would be a phenomenal achievement and it's something that all the players want.

"We know, however, that Bristol will be a very tough game for us because they come into the match on the back of a very good result at Penzance yesterday so they will be high on confidence."

Meanwhile, Brain has backed the idea of a public celebration if Worcester clinch promotion. Supporters are desperate for an open-top bus parade around the city but the idea is still at an early stage.

"I think some sort of public celebration would be appropriate," added Brain.

"I think the players would like to do that but what we have to make sure is that we get the backing from the right parties."
