WORCESTER City are gunning for a seventh successive home win as they bid to topple leaders Crawley at St Geor-ge's Lane tonight (7.45).

Victory will also close the gap to seven points, paving the way for a late title charge by John Barton's third-placed side.

City's manager has dubbed Crawley 'champions-elect', but is hoping to beat the table-toppers in style and boost home support for the Dr Martens Premier Division run-in.

"It's great to have a fixture on a Monday night, at home, against a team that are champions-elect but the game won't decide anything," said Barton.

"However, it's a good spectacle and hopefully people will come and see the progress we've made.

"We deserve a big crowd. It's a game that catches the imagination and hopefully we can keep our run going. The club deserves a bumper gate and there is opportunity to get a result and a performance that convinces a few more people to stick with us."

Barton has injury worries over teenage full-back Shabir Khan, who needed stitches after sustaining a head wound in Saturday's 2-0 win over Merthyr, while Paul Carty (knee) will also miss out.

Jon Holloway, who replaced Khan, could start at right-back with Allan Davies switching to the left.

Barton believes Crawley's 10-point lead will ultimately prove too much to overhaul, but insisted there's still plenty to play for.

"They are 10 points in front of us and that is a tall order, but it's a game to test ourselves.

"But the season doesn't revolve around tonight's game. It's one of seven games to go and we just want to get as many points as we can and finish strongly."

The club have disclosed that last week they rejected a substantial offer for winger Adam Wilde from title-chasing Weymouth. FORMCAST: City to win 2-1.
