BROMSGROVE RFC First XV continued their push for promotion from Midlands Two (West) with an emphatic 51-0 thrashing of Kenilworth.

And with last Saturday's result at Finstall Park Dean Ball's side, still a point behind leaders Derby, exacted revenge for their defeat in the reverse fixture earlier in the season, their only loss of the campaign to date.

Kenilworth were never in the game and allowed Bromsgrove to notch up a comfortable victory.

Another storming display in front of a Presidents Day crowd emphasised Town's intentions for a place back in Midlands One next season.

Director of coaching Dean Ball said: "I was happy but a bit surprised that they didn't put up a better fight being as it was a team we had lost to.

"I was confident we would win comfortably. We know what we can do, it's just a case of us doing it frequently.

"It was by far and away the strongest squad the club can field. The best team went out and performed as they should."

Ball was particularly pleased with the performances of Jon Taylor and Tom Churchill as well as scrum half Nick Copson.

Richard Stockholm and Steve Phillips continued their rich vein of form with a brace of tries apiece. Phillips' effort takes him to fifth in the league's top try scorers with 11.

Lee Wainwright, fourth on the same list, bagged another try to bring his total to an impressive 12 for the season. Nick Copson added to this before Phillips' front row team mates, Mark Cornellius and Richard Arnold, got themselves one each.

Matt Birch was the final person to add points to the total with one try, one penalty and two conversions.
