ADAM Webster admits he was delighted to extend his contract and declared he's still got unfinished business at Worcester City.

The 23-year-old has targeted promotion with the St George's Lane club as his main priority during the next two seasons.

The striker, who has scored four goals in four games since his recall to the side, is set to make his 100th appearance against Merthyr Tydfil at St George's Lane today.

"I'm extremely happy to have signed for another two years and hopefully both myself and the club can continue to make progress," he said.

"I think I can get better and I've still got unfinished business at Worcester.

"I'm striving to improve, so is the club, and if we can bring in a few more players for next season we can keep pushing in the right direction.

"I'm still only 23 and have yet to reach my mid-20s where players reach their peak"

Promotion to the Conference remains Webster's ultimate goal and in a week in which Crawley Town and Weymouth both stumbled to defeats, the striker feels the race for this year's Dr Martens Premier Division championship has yet to be decided.

"We started off the season aiming for first place and nothing has changed," he said.

"If we can't get first then we'll go for second, and so on and it will be same for next season whether it's the Conference North or South.

"We'll be striving to get promotion, and we still are this year even though it's a long shot.

"But until it's mathematically impossible we'll just keep plugging away and see what happens."

City will have an ideal chance to claw back some lost ground on leaders Crawley Town when they visit St George's Lane on Monday.

Francis Vines side inflicted a 4-0 defeat on John Barton's team back in August and many pundits, including City's boss rate them the best side in the league.

Webster is wary that Crawley's surprise midweek defeat to Merthyr could spell trouble for City.

"We got a bit humiliated at Crawley and we owe them a performance and a result," he said.

"But they will be looking for a reaction from their mid-week defeat so we'll need to be on our toes.

"It's a massive game but so is today against Merthyr and we need to concentrate on that one first."
