DIRECTOR of Cricket Tom Moody is convinced Worcestershire can bounce back from their 118-run mauling in yesterday's Cheltenham and Gloucester Trophy quarter-final at New Road.

The disappointing defeat ended the County's run of six victories on the trot in all cricket.

Moody said: "Leicestershire played the perfect game of cricket.

"We have had days where we have played perfect cricket and washed teams aside, but we were on the receiving end and we've got to learn from that. I'm sure we'll bounce back."

The County's next chance to get yesterday's result out of their system is on Tuesday when skipper Graeme Hick's table-toppers entertain title rivals Durham in a floodlit Norwich Union League Division Two clash at New Road.

Moody, however, accepts that Worcestershire were second best yesterday.

He said: "We certainly gave it everything we have got, but really from the toss of the coin they outplayed us.

"You have really got to give credit where it's due and Leicestershire are a very good one-day outfit. They are playing to their full potential.

"They gained the initiative in the first 15 overs there's no question of that, but I thought our guys showed a lot of character.

"We held it together in the field and our fielding was still pretty polished. We restricted them to under 300, but at one stage they could have got at least 350.

"You have certainly got to take your hat off to our guys for hanging in there and still fighting.

"As it turned out 300 was far too many and Leicestershire bowled with a lot of discipline and fielded well," said Moody.

"They have got a lot of depth to their batting line-up and I think that allows them to play the type of game they play up front with Jon Dakin and Shahid Afridi. They play with a lot of freedom.

"This is a minor hiccup. We have been playing some quality cricket over the last month, but we came up against a very good side.

"I'd love to start the day all over again and have a fresh toss of the coin and I'm sure the result would be different."
