WORCESTERSHIRE made a disastrous start to their one-day clash against New Zealand 'A' at New Road today.

They crashed to 13-3 after 22-year-old Test paceman Daryl Tuffey had ripped out Ryan Driver, Elliott Wilson and Vikram Solanki in the space of eight deadly deliveries.

And worse was to follow when David Leatherdale followed the trio in the pavilion -- Tuffey's fourth victim of the morning.

After being put in, Wilson and Driver had launched the Counties innings against lethal Tuffey and Lance Hamilton. Wilson got off the mark with a single before Driver opened his account with a firmly struck four through the covers off Tuffey.

It was Driver's only scoring shot however as two balls later he was bowled by Tuffey who was operating from the New Road End.

Next in was Solanki who soon lost the companionship of Wilson who was well caught at mid-wicket by Tama Canning off Tuffey.

It reduced the County to 10-2 with Solanki being joined by Leatherdale in a bid to repair the damage.

They were quickly parted however when Solanki became another Tuffey victim, The England hopeful being bowled for two.

His departure signalled the arrival of young Kadeer Ali who retained his place after making his one-day debut in Saturday's Norwich Union National League Division One victory over Somerset at Taunton.

Leatherdale provided some stubborn resistance to the New Zealand pacemen but, after scoring just two off 26 balls, he too was dismissed, going lbw to Tuffey.

Worcestershire where captained by Steve Rhodes whose wicket keeping duties were taken over by James Pipe in his first senior appearance of the season.

And the skipper seemed a calming influence as the County edged to 35-4 after 18 overs.
