TOM Moody is telling his players that their Norwich Union League destiny is in their own hands as Worcestershire Royals prepare for tomorrow's crucial Division Two showdown against promotion-rivals Hampshire Hawks at New Road.

"Hampshire are in the hunt as well and if we can secure a win its going to go along way towards helping us move to where we want to be in the table," said the County's Director of Cricket.

Worcestershire need to finish in the top three in the table to clinch promotion.

They are currently second, two points behind Durham Dynamos.

Third are Glamorgan Dragons who are two points behind Worcestershire, while Hampshire are a further four points adrift of skipper Graeme Hick's men.

Glamorgan, however, have two matches in hand and Hampshire just the one.

Moody said: "At this stage of the season we can't afford any hiccups like we had at Chelmsford when we lost to Essex.

"I think the team has hopefully learnt from their mistakes and I felt that we bounced back well in County Championship cricket from that match when we played very well at Edgbaston. Unfortunately we were cut short by rain.

"We need to move forward, we are very confident in one-day cricket at the moment. We are very sure of our one-day plan and it's a case of making sure we execute it.

"I think one of the great advantages we have for our final run home is that we play the challenging teams.

"We have got to play Durham, Glamorgan and Hampshire and at the end of that our final game is Essex, so our destiny in our own hands really."

Worcestershire have added paceman Chris Liptrot and batsmen Paul Pollard to the eleven players declared for last Sunday's match against Middlesex Crusaders at Lord's.

Rain, however, prevented any play and the County picked up two points for a no result.
