ENGLAND were today considering their spin bowling options after yet another injury setback with Jeremy Snape being ruled out of contention for the next month with a fractured right thumb.
Snape suffered the injury after being struck with the first delivery he has faced on the tour from fast bowler Brett Lee during England's comprehensive eight-wicket defeat by New South Wales.
He was sent for an X-ray today which confirmed the break and he will now miss the first half of the triangular series against Australia and Sri Lanka at the very least -- leaving the tourists desperately looking for a replacement spinner.
With left-arm spinner Ashley Giles already having returned home with a broken left wrist, England's two other main options are either Yorkshire's Richard Dawson or Worcestershire off-spinner Gareth Batty.
England will consider their options over the next few days but they would like the replacement for Snape to make an appearance at their final warm-up match against the Prime Minister's XI on Tuesday.
