DIRECTOR of Cricket Tom Moody believes Worcestershire can turn the tables on Gloucestershire when the sides clash in the quarter-final of the Benson and Hedges Cup.

The match will take place at the County Ground, Bristol, on May 21 or 22.

The likely date is Tuesday, May 21, although this has yet to be confirmed

Worcestershire will be aiming to put the record straight after slumping to a six-wicket defeat against Gloucestershire in their opening group match at New Road on April 29. On that occasion Graeme Hick's men recorded their lowest ever limited-over total of 70.

Moody, however, is confident the County can gain revenge in their first quarter-final appearance in the competition since 1995.

He said: "At this stage it doesn't matter who you play. Gloucestershire are a good side but I think we are better.

"The game against them earlier didn't show any signs of what we are capable of as a one-day unit which we have done since with four wins.

"The toss of the coin was the deciding factor. We opened them up like a can of beans in the four-day game against them. We don't have any fear of them but we do respect what they have done in one-day cricket."

The other quarter-finals are: Sussex v Warwickshire; Leicestershire v Lancashire and Essex v Yorkshire.

Meanwhile, Vikram Solanki makes his first Frizzell County Championship appearance of the season when Worcestershire open their match against Glamorgan at New Road tomorrow. He has missed the opening two games with Gloucestershire and Northamptonshire because of a finger injury sustained against Oxford UCCE in The Parks.

Spinner Matthew Rawnsley, who played against Northants, makes way for Solanki.
