WORCESTERSHIRE will play their Cheltenham & Gloucester Trophy quarter-final against Leicestershire at New Road on Tuesday, July 24.

Leicestershire booked their place in the last eight yesterday with a six-wicket win in their rain-affected fourth round clash with Nottinghamshire at Trent Bridge.

The County's game with Leicestershire has been brought forward a day to be televised live by Sky.

The New Road tie will be an all-pay match with tickets available in advance priced £11 (£13 on the day). Sixteen years and under half price. Tickets are available during office hours at the ground or by telephoning 01905-748474.

Worcestershire have been making plans to find a replacement for when head groundsman Roy McLaren retires on July 31.

His duties until the end of the summer will be carried out by his number two Tim Packwood.

Former New Road groundsman Gordon Prosser, who has acted in an advisory capacity with the County's flooding problems, will continue to be used in a supporting role.

"Our aim is to see how Tim enjoys the role. Rather than going into the market he has the potential and this will be a trial period for him. We have absolute confidence in him," said the County's chief executive Mark Newton today.

Worcestershire, meanwhile, are in a strong position in their Second Eleven match against Gloucestershire at Kidderminster's Chester Road ground.

At the close last night they held an overall lead of 161 with all their second innings wickets left.

Gloucestershire, replying to the County's first innings total of 452-9 declared, resumed yesterday on 121-3 and finally called it a day on 352-9 off 87.4 overs.
