YOUR article about the redundancies at Royal Worcester Porcelain beggars belief.
Worcester people are well aware of their workers being made redundant over the years but the present explanation is pathetic.
It suggests that someone in management lacks any interest in their workers and is making an unacceptable choice. This person seems to lack interest in the importance of Royal Worcester to the people of Worcester.
The Cathedral authorities have recently stated that they are short of funds again. The loss of Porcelain visitors can only make things worse.
Fancy taking advantage of German machinery which allows foreign workers to make Porcelain products to meet Royal Worcester Standards. Certainly not using that title.
How can they justify making at least 100 skilled Worcester workers unemployed? The history of the company shows it has always suffered from financial problems. The major benefactor was William Perrins of Worcestershire Sauce fame who used his own money to keep the factory working.
Even during the war, he managed to obtain work from the Government to keep it going.
