MALVERN'S Ultimate Frisbee team, Lords of the Ring, was established over a year ago and it is still going strong with its members having increased to an impressive 40 plus.

During the course of the year Lords have won numerous awards, including last weekend when they travelled to Birmingham to take part in the Great Barr Crawl indoor tournament.

Lords finished an impressive seventh place taking home with them the Plate Trophy as well as the Spirit Award. The tournament was won by Whiplash, from Coventry, who beat Angels in a very close and competitive match.

Ultimate is a simple and very social, self refereed game, a mixture of frisbee, football and netball. The game starts by a disc being thrown to the opposing team who then have to pass it up the pitch into an endzone to score a point. The defensive team marks each offensive player trying to intercept the disc.

This year Lords are trying to establish a larger female base within their team, especially for the up and coming co-ed tours they will be entering, with the possibility of a female team being founded.

If anyone is interested, especially female frisbee flingers, then go along to one of the Lords' training practices which take place Thursdays at 6pm at Dyson Perrins High School or visit www.malvernultimate.com.

The team has recently tied up a sponsorship deal with the Malvern Hills Science Park.
